All About Merit Badges

Merit Badges are earned throught the Scouts journey.  Their first few will probably be earned at a Troop meeting.  Every Summer Camp they will earn 3-6 more.  Some badges they will have to complete partially or entirely on their own.  

There are over 135 MB's to choose from. To achieve Star Rank a scout must have earned 6 MB's.  To achieve Life Rank a scout must have earned 5 more, and 21 total must be earned to acheive Eagle, including 10 required badges such as cooking, camping, Citizenship in the Nation and Hiking.  While this seems overwhelming at the beginning almost every Eagle Scout has achieved more than the minimum 21.
